Both my daughters have now participated in the Sweet Six pageant and had a wonderful time! I have always been so proud of all the young girls who brave the stage and try something new. This is such a valuable experience to teach about competition and to build self-esteem through a non-threatening, learning experience among peers. Thank you for offering this to our young residents and continuing the tradition!
Sweet 6 is part of the Johnson County Old Settlers Celebration held in September. The contest is held on the Thursday evening of Old Settlers.
♦ Participants will be asked a few questions, such as "what was your favorite thing about summer," and be awarded points on a scale of sweet, sweeter, sweetest.
♦ Participants are encouraged to show their personal style - from sundresses to sports gear to fairy princesses and superheroes.
♦ There is no talent portion to this event.
♦ Participants must be 6 years old on the day of the event.
♦ Winners ride in the Old Settlers parade on Saturday morning.
Note: There is a $35 application fee. Forms must be received by September 1st and participation is limited to the first 35 applications received! Proceeds are used to fund OJSL service projects and $1,000 scholarships.
