Reading Trails Fun Fest

Reading and learning about the history of the wagon train trails that helped make Mahaffie famous are part of this day of activities.  The theme revolves around the Santa Fe, California and Oregon Trail’s and the many activities settlers engaged in while traveling from the east to the west. Visiting children can experience a day in the life of a child on the trails!

This project is OJSL’s biggest fundraiser and provides most of the monies to support the funding requests we receive from the Olathe community. Dollars are raised primarily through sponsorships from local businesses and organizations. The purpose of the event is to promote literacy at the elementary school level.
